I thought I'd share this year's torn paper collage Christmas card with you... I had hoped to get it printed and sent out, but it's not looking like that's going to happen this year... perhaps it will serve as next year's printed card. Just too much work to make each card by hand, though I'd really like to!
Overall, it looks a bit dull on the computer screen, because the papers that look kind of beige are actually metallic gold and the computer can't show you that... I'll show you some of the others I made, though I thought this card, above, was the best for a printed card.
version 3
It's kind of fun to try to represent a Christmas tree in torn paper, and even more fun to use unusual papers that aren't necessarily "Christmassy", if you know what I mean. Unfortunately, the shapes of the trees weren't all quite what I'd hoped for, but I guess that just adds to the "handmade" quality, right?!?
Happy New Year, Kathy!
So sorry I haven't visited in a while. I see that I've missed quite a bit on your blog. These Christmas cards are absolutely gorgeous! Very clever.
What a treat to hear about the surprise visit from your son! Sounds like your Christmas was very merry. :-)

Absolutely, the handmade quality is important. These look so good and are so creative.
Thanks for your post on my blog. It IS a small world. If I lived closer to jacqueline that piece would be framed by now. She talked with me about how she'd like to frame it. Thanks! Merry Christmas!

Love your paper collage Christmas trees Kathy! You are a master at combining different papers. I can envision you creating an awesome wedding cake card using the same techniques. Merry Christmas to you too!

I'm so glad to see you posting again. I ALWAYS enjoy seeing your work. The torn paper Christmas trees are a wonderful idea. I may "steal" the idea not for cards but for a tree collage I hope to do for my daughter who is a silviculturist. Was thinking of you the other evening as I was working on a page in my journal and using some of the scraps you sent a year or so ago. I've really enjoyed working with them.
Happy Holidays to you and yours.
