This just in....

This just in, from The Land of Lost Luggage, Julie has promised mail art to the first two people who post seven "interesting" things about themselves... so here goes...

Seven things you may or may not have known about me, and likely couldn't care less about:

1. I was born at Eglin Air Force Base, in Fort Walton Beach, FLA., where my father was Base Commander (this must explain why I am SO attracted to men in uniform!).

2. I had a subarachnoid hemorrhage a year ago January, and came out of it with absolutely no residual effects, except I swear I don't type as well as I did prior to that! Now I am almost constantly goofing up the order of letters when typing. That said, I'm extremely fortunate to have survived that experience, and certainly as well as I did.

3. I smashed my middle and ring fingers while gardening one year, while trying to "rearrange" boulders. Let me tell you something... if you ever do something like that, and you're wearing a ring, get that ring off your hand ASAP, trust me on that one!

4. I worked as an Emergency Room nurse straight out of college, in a Level One Trauma Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It was the scariest and most exciting thing I've ever done... did I mention how utterly terrified I was to go in to work as a new grad?!?

5. In May 1980, just months after graduating from said Nursing School in Kalamazoo, the city experienced one of the worst tornados in history. I took care of a middle aged woman who was in a department store when the back wall of the store caved in, and she was trapped under the rubble. I will never forget her. She died from blood loss right before my eyes, and I still feel like I was somehow responsible.

6. I studied classical piano, starting at the age of six; and studied classical voice starting at the age of 13. I always dreamed of being a performer... I'm not really sure how I ended up being a nurse.

7. The closer I get to the big 5-0, the more preoccupied I become with dying and on the flip side, with living as well as I can until I die.

I guess that these lists DO shine a strange and bright light on our fellow Bloggers. Very interesting stuff. It all goes towards painting a picture.
